We are going to make a Web page in Flash today.

At the Bell: Open Flash on your computer so we can get started right away.

Objectives: As a result of this lesson, students will:

  1. Use Flash as a tool to create Web pages.
  2. Use hypertext links to connect Flash pages together.
  3. Export Flash .fla documents as .swf and .html documents.

Assignment: Create a Web Page using Flash. The page can be about anything school appropriate. If you like, you can recreate a page you made in another Web design tool. Minimum requirements:

Whole class practice: Create a new folder called "images" on your H drive. Right-click on each file below, and select "Save link as ..." to save them into your "images" folder. Open the Web page file in Notepad++ and in your browser.

At the Bell: Log into Moodle and Complete "ATB: Evaluating Websites" in Unit 1.

Objectives:  As a result of this lesson, student will:

  1. be able to explain the basic concepts related to using color and the Web.
  2. be able to identify and make use of color related resources online
  3. be able to identify accessibility concerns related to color and implement key strategies to make sites accessible to people who are color blind

Assignment: Answer the review questions on the handout using the Website resources below. You may work with a partner if you like. Make sure to hand in your work before you leave

  1. Critically evaluate Web sites based on purpose, design and usability.
  2. Identify the major criteria that experts use to evaluate Web sites and apply those criteria to their own evaluations.

Welcome to Web Design. I'm glad you are joining us. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do this semester. We will be using this Website every day to share information and files. Since I post the daily lessons here, you'll be able to keep up if you ever need to miss class. Before you go today, we will talk about being "involved" from the PRIDE Matrix.

At the Bell: Pick up a copy of the Class Rules from the desk by the door. Then locate your assigned seat.
